Specialized training and consulting in productivity systems designed for Hong Kong’s demanding work environment

Daily Planning Systems

Michael develops personalized daily planning frameworks that fit your actual schedule, not some idealized version. He’s helped professionals in finance, law, and tech reduce decision fatigue by 40% through strategic morning routines and task sequencing.

Prioritization Frameworks

Not all tasks are equal. Michael teaches evidence-based prioritization methods that distinguish between urgent and important work. His three-task method has become standard practice across multiple corporations in Wan Chai’s business district.

Focus & Deep Work

Time blocking isn’t just scheduling—it’s about protecting uninterrupted focus periods where real work happens. Michael’s techniques help professionals reclaim hours each week previously lost to context switching and notification overload.

Productivity Optimization

Michael analyzes actual workflows and identifies efficiency gaps specific to each organization. His optimization process typically uncovers 5-8 hours of recoverable time per week through process refinement and technology integration.

Team Productivity Coaching

It’s not just individual performance. Michael works with management teams to align priorities, reduce unnecessary meetings, and build collaborative systems that actually support each person’s goals rather than undermine them.

Sustainable Habits

Real change doesn’t happen overnight. Michael builds gradual, sustainable habit systems using behavioral psychology principles. His approach focuses on small wins that compound into major shifts over 12 weeks.

Background & Experience

Michael’s path into productivity consulting wasn’t linear. In 2010, while working in corporate operations at a major investment bank in Central, he noticed something troubling: brilliant, hardworking professionals were burning out despite putting in 12-hour days. They weren’t lazy. They weren’t incompetent. They just didn’t have effective systems.

That frustration became the catalyst for change. Rather than accept the “that’s just how it is” mentality of Hong Kong’s corporate culture, Michael spent five years experimenting with different productivity approaches—both for himself and informally for colleagues. He consumed everything: David Allen’s Getting Things Done, Cal Newport’s Deep Work, James Clear’s research on habits. But most importantly, he tested these methods against real Hong Kong working conditions: chaotic schedules, competing priorities, cultural expectations around availability, and the unique pressure of working across multiple time zones.

In 2015, after completing formal training in executive coaching through the International Coach Federation and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Michael launched Prioritize HK Limited. His timing aligned with a growing recognition among Hong Kong corporations that burnout wasn’t sustainable—and that productivity problems were actually systems problems, not character problems.

Since 2015, Michael’s worked with over 500 professionals across Hong Kong’s financial services, technology, legal, and consulting sectors. His clients have included investment banks, law firms, accounting firms, and startup founders. The results speak consistently: an average 23% reduction in time spent on administrative work, improved focus quality, and—perhaps most importantly—better integration of work and personal life.

Michael’s now Senior Content Director at Prioritize HK Limited, where he develops training curricula, coaches individual professionals, and writes extensively about productivity systems adapted for Hong Kong’s unique environment. He’s a regular speaker at corporate events across Wan Chai and the broader Hong Kong business community.

Michael’s Approach

“Proper planning and prioritization can unlock both professional success and personal fulfillment. It’s not about working harder. It’s about creating sustainable systems that allow you to deliver better results without sacrificing your well-being.”

— Michael Lau

Michael’s philosophy isn’t complicated. He’s watched too many brilliant professionals burn out because they don’t have effective systems. They’re working 12-hour days, feeling like they’re always behind, and yet most of their time is spent on work that doesn’t actually matter.

The solution isn’t motivation or discipline—it’s systems. When you’ve got the right framework for planning, prioritizing, and protecting focus time, everything changes. You work less. You accomplish more. You feel better.

That’s what drives Michael’s work. Not productivity for its own sake, but sustainable high performance that actually improves your life. He’s designed every training program, every coaching session, and every article with that principle in mind.
